By trade, Mike Kelly is an English teacher at Secaucus High School in New Jersey, with a passion for literature as well as music, and a unique talent for combining the two.

Mike began writing music at the age of 10, drawing on the experiences of a young boy growing up in a family of 8 children in Philadelphia, and honed his music and performing skills at church services and local parties.

More recently, he has performed at local folk scenes such as Jane's Cafe in NYC, The Mermaid Inn in Philadelphia, and other bars and restaurants around the New Jersey area, in addition to private parties and community functions.

Mike recorded his first CD, a collection of children's music titled "Smelly Mike Kelly - Kid Songs That Stink" in 1999. It can be found at retail shops from New Jersey to California, as well as on this website. The CD received high acclaim from children and parents alike for its clever lyrics and engaging melodies. This first recording endevour was recently featured on WXPN, a radio station broadcasting from the University of Pennsylvania to the greater Philly area, on the weekly children's program, Kid's Corner. The album was an immediate favorite with the station and was chosen as the featured album of the week.

His second recording effort, "Find Me," includes a collection of rock, pop, and blues originals inspired by life experiences and the literature he teaches to his students.

And now, "Miracles And Vegetables," the latest collection from Smelly Mike Kelly, serves up a mix of captivating songs which tap into musical genres such as ska, rhythm and blues, and country-rock. His lyrics paint vivid images with a sly humor and wit to entertain listeners of all ages.

Mike currently lives in River Edge, NJ with his wife Jackie, and his 5 guitars: Laureli, Jake, John, Rocky, and Sue.
